Kat Sydenham Counselling
Life can be tough, even more so if you’re experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression or low self esteem. It can be hard to talk about what you’re feeling, especially if you feel like people won’t understand.

Counselling provides you with a safe space to explore your feelings and reclaim your life.

While mental health counselling services through the NHS tend to offer a limited number of sessions or are only available in crisis situations, you are able to see me for as many sessions as you need when you need.

Services
Counselling for Anxiety and Depression You may have tried medication and other types of therapy but it didn’t work. It could be that you’ve seen a mental health professional and attended NHS counselling sessions but were limited to a strict number of sessions. You may still be on a waiting list.

By coming to weekly, 50-minute sessions with me for as long as you need, you will have the freedom to explore your feelings and nurture your mental health without time limits.
Trauma Therapy & Sexual Abuse I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to talk. It may be many weeks before you decide you’re ready to discuss the sexual abuse or trauma that you have experienced. You may want to talk about it straight away; you may struggle to ever find the words.

Whatever you need, it’s OK. My trauma and sexual abuse counselling service is completely led by you. You get to decide what we talk about and when. Just know that you will be heard, you will be believed, and you will have a safe space.
Counselling for Teenagers If your teen is struggling with their emotional or mental health, I offer:

Boots on the ground support now, instead of at the end of a long waiting list
A safe, judgement-free outlet to talk (I spent 20 years working in and managing children’s homes so there’s nothing I haven’t heard!)
No pressure – your teen sets the pace, deciding what we talk about and when
Even if you have a great relationship with your son or daughter, teens sometimes find it easier to open up to someone outside of the family.

I came to see Kat as a trainee counsellor with a very specific issue and we agreed to work with each other for eight sessions. By the second session Kat had helped me gain an insight which felt like an incredible ray of sunshine breaking though the clouds, illuminating so much which had hitherto been a mystery. Kat is incredibly intuitive and she worked at a pace that was right for me. I always felt energised after my sessions with her and was able to process my issue and finally understand its impact on my life.

Throughout my time with Kat, I took a lot of positives from the experience. She is very professional and good at what she does and this is why my perspective on my problems changed for the better with every session. She has given me some really good tips and recommended me brilliant books for my low moments. I would highly recommend.

Kat is an approachable and skilled counsellor who responded to us really quickly. She is flexible with appointment times and instantly offered support when it was most needed. She is down to earth and instantly understood how to work with my child. I would recommend her highly- thanks Kat.
