Sometimes life throws things at us that perhaps we need a little help with. We can also hold on to repressed and un-dealt with events and traumas from the past that lay stagnant and hold us back. People that seek counselling may have been coping with too much for too long and also may not always be aware of what is wrong. It may be that something doesn't feel quite right and they need a safe place in which to explore and unravel their thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Likewise, people may know exactly what it is that is upsetting them but need to speak to a third, impartial party and know that it will be in the strictest of confidence in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Some problems lay in the past and others are very much in the present so therefore an eclectic mix of therapeutic methods will be used. Initially the client and therapist will work together by starting the first session(s) in the present, followed by exploring the past and then working towards a positive future.
All sessions will be up-held in the strictest of confidence and provide the three main core conditions of empathy, honesty and warmth helping to establish a mutually respectable relationship between both the client and the therapist.
