Debbie Fitchsampson Counselling
I have been a counsellor since 2006 and running my private practice since 2011. Currently I am available for counselling online, using Zoom or a similar video platform. I have undertaken further training in online therapy and I fully support the research concluding that online therapy can be as effective as in person therapy. I am delighted to say that many of the clients I have seen over the last year are in agreement with this view.

Are you struggling with aspects of your life or your relationships? Whether something has recently happened, or your difficulties go back further, making time for some counselling sessions can really help. You might need just a few sessions or longer term support, either way I will be pleased to hear from you.

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons; perhaps you have feelings of panic, anxiety or depression, have suffered a significant bereavement or loss, find you are having relationship difficulties, you feel angry, unhappy, or you have a history of self-harm or reckless behaviour, whatever your reason, I will be pleased to meet you and offer you support with your difficulties.
Services
It's really important to find the right counsellor for you, so here's some information about me you might find useful.
It's not the same as having a chat or meeting in person so please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss your requirements and ask any questions you may have.
After undertaking a one-year foundation course in counselling, my counselling career began by studying for a three-year post graduate diploma in psychodynamic counselling.
This involved a combination of study of theoretical approach, clinical experience and extensive personal therapy.
You may be turning to counselling as a result of a significant life event that has left you struggling, such as a relationship breakdown, a trauma, a situation at work, a bereavement, or diagnoses of an illness.
Perhaps you have other difficulties in your life, such as childhood trauma or abuse, reoccurring depression or anxiety, anger problems, self-harm or reckless behaviour, panic attacks, feeling bad tempered, or generally struggling with life.
When we meet we can explore what it will be like to work together and we can think about the approach you might need, including whether we feel you need just a few sessions or if an open ended approach will be more beneficial.
Couples counselling or relationship counselling involves both partners together in counselling.
As a couple you may be experiencing a particular difficulty or have more general problems.
One or both of you may be hoping to work things through or you may be looking to decide if the relationship should end.
Having time and space to talk through your concerns can help to make things clearer and help you find a way forward.
In couples counselling I will listen carefully to you both.
I will remain neutral and work hard to understand your individual perspectives and to help you understand each other's perspective and needs.
