In response to the lockdown restrictions being lifted, Focus Counselling is now offering face to face sessions at our new home, The Oasis Hub, Bath and Focus Frome, St John's Cottage, 1, Church Steps, Frome. We will continue to offer some remote sessions via Zoom and telephone calls should this be your preference. If you are feeling anxious or depressed, or feel you need a safe, non-judgemental space to explore your concerns, Focus continues to be here for you.

Focus Counselling is a highly respected and busy counselling Agency in the centre of Bath. We provide affordable person-centred therapy for those people in need, from Bath and its surrounding areas. We abide by the Code and Ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Whatever is worrying you or affecting your life, please feel free to call us and come in for an initial appointment.

Our qualified and experienced counsellors are here to help you. We are delighted to have opened our person-centred counselling therapy rooms in Frome with the support of St John's Church.
Services
Focus was established in late 1999, after it was identified that there was a need for affordable counselling in Bath.
Our Founder, Jan Robertson, was asked to pioneer this new service in the Crypt of St Michael's Church.
Since then we have grown and developed and now work with GP surgeries, drugs and alcohol agencies, churches, housing associations, schools, universities, the police, social services and other counselling agencies to name but a few.
We offer counselling to all and have funding available for those who are on a low income.
Helen is a trained counsellor, supervisor and works with adults, children, young people, couples and families.
Helen originally trained in Theology, then Musical Theatre before moving into working as a person-centred therapist and supervisor on a full time basis.
Alongside Helen's CEO role, she has a thriving private practice and is a supervisor for Cruse Bereavement Care UK and volunteers for Marriage Care.
She is the Office Manager and Company Secretary and deals with the day to day running of the agency and the finances.
Person Centred Therapy is an empowering therapy which helps clients to work through their issues and find the strength and resilience inside themselves to move forward.
The therapy is based on the vital core conditions of any fully functioning relationship.
These are unconditional acceptance of the other person, empathy, no judgement and genuineness.
We also believe that the client needs a safe place to come and address their issues.
Whether our clients come to us for 6 weeks or 2 years, they are given the space and time to heal.
We have five designated children's workers.
They practise person centred therapy with children aged 4 and upwards.
There is a special therapy room for the children where they can express themselves through talking, play, art and writing.
Many of the children are facing real difficulties in their lives.
These include anxiety, bereavement, divorce, abuse, neglect, bullying, low self esteem and depression.
Each child is given unconditional acceptance of who they are, empathy, no judgement and a safe place to be.
We work in a number of schools where we provide one to one counselling.
The children and young people can be seen at the school or at the Focus Counselling Offices.
At Focus Counselling, we facilitate a free support group for people with any form of eating disorder.
The group takes a pro-recovery approach and aim to provide emotional and practical support in a safe and confidential environment.
The group is run fortnightly on a Thursday evening, please contact us for more information on how to join.
