Footprints Counselling & Psychotherapy
Hello, my name is Corinna Parker and I bring you Footprints Counselling and Supervision, incorporating therapeutic supervision. I am a CPCAB qualified integrative counsellor, cognitive behaviour therapist and Centre of Excellence neuro linguistic practitioner with further degree level training. I am also a fully qualified supervisor working with trainee and trained counsellor's.

This ensures piece of mind that I can hold and contain my clients in a safe way. I am a fully insured member of the professional bodies BACP and BABCP and continue to engage in training to improve my practice and the interventions I offer, assuring my clients that I work safely and to an ethical framework. I hold a full DBS (disclosure and barring service) certificate.

I work in a holistic way, keeping all of the client in mind when building a tailor made therapeutic intervention to suit the unique needs of each individual client. I work mindfully and write personal guided meditations to help my clients maintain a more manageable lifestyle, incorporating (Gestalt) safe place work.
Services
As an integrative counsellor I do not believe there is a "one size fits all" therapy.
Counselling is as individual and unique as the client and as such my approach considers the whole person, not just one aspect.
Being integrative means I am not restricted to any one way of working.
I am able to draw from a variety of theories which can best match the needs of the client.
My core theory is person centered, which means the sessions are client lead and not directed by me.
It allows the therapeutic relationship to be more balanced and allows the client to explore thoughts and feelings without being fixed to a plan or style of therapy.
Neuro - relates to the brain and what happens in the mind, the use of your senses to interpret the world around you, your thoughts and emotions, your physiology and subsequent behaviors.
Lingustic - relates to language and how you use it, it governs the language you use to communicate with others and influence how you experience things.
Programming - relates to patterns of behaviour which you learn and repeat, internal thoughts and patterns of behaviour that help you evaluate situations, solve problems and make decisions.
Cognitive behaviour therapy is a great model.
It is often, but not always, a time limited piece of work that can be solution focused with clear goals from the onset of the work.
Each session is planned and CBT does involve out of session work, often termed homework, which can include keeping a diary, an activity or thought records to help compare behaviour's and the thoughts that go with them to enable challenge and change.
Other types of out of session work many also be involved.
There is often a lot of paperwork involved in a cognitive behavioural piece of work although there doesn't have to be.
Mindfulness has its roots in ancient buddhism but was pioneered as a model by Jon Kabot Zinn.
Initially the movement was designed for patients with debilitating and chronic pain.
Brain scans showed that after practicing an eight week programme of mindfulness there was a provable change in the brain activity leading to patients reporting reduced pain enabling them to lead a more manageable life.
It is recognised that living a more mindful, moment to moment life, the overall quality of life and every day issues can be improved.
Being based in Bebington Village allows me to be able to offer walking therapy in two beautiful locations, Mayer Park and Port Sunlight Village, both of which are just a minute or two's walk from my consulting room.
Walking, in general is very good for mental health and well-being, being in nature is well documented and researched to have a significant positive impact on overall well-being.
Walking therapy isn't for everyone however some feel more comfortable talking as they walk rather than a face to face setting in a room which can sometimes feel overwhelming.
