Tailored Counselling
We offer access to counselling either Face-to-Face or remotely via Skype, Zoom and Telephone or a blended approach using a combination of platforms tailored to individual needs. For some clients online therapy may well just be an individual preference. Understandably some clients choose an alternative medium to access Counselling for reasons such as distance, mobility issues, transport problems, a busy daily schedule, and child/other caring responsibilities.

Depending on a clients personal circumstances remote Counselling sessions may suit individual needs much better. Remote Counselling offers more flexibility; there is no travel involved and it saves time. Conducting online Counselling sessions using remote mediums can at times in peoples' lives for different reasons maintain continuity of treatment sessions.

Providing the option for remote therapy even if just occasionally, can help mitigate some logistical challenges. An initial fifteen minute consultation is free of charge to establish if Counselling is suitable, if we decide to continue and arrange an Online/Telephone Counselling session payments need to be made 24 hours in advance by direct bank transfer.

Cognitive (CBT) therapy is based on the assumption that human beings are born with a potential for both rational, or straight thinking and irrational, or crooked thinking.
CBT attempts to change the way in which a person thinks about life experiences, and it concentrates on finding ways to change negative or irrational thought patterns into more constructive ones.
These therapies usually concentrate on the client's present state of mind, and the underlying assumption is that emotional distress starts with negative or irrational thoughts about their circumstances or about themselves.
Gestalt therapy focuses more on process (what is happening) than content (what is being discussed).
The emphasis is on what is being done, thought and felt at the moment rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should be.
Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological-existential therapy founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940s.
It teaches therapists and patients the phenomenological method of awareness, in which perceiving, feeling, and acting are distinguished from interpreting and reshuffling preexisting attitudes.
The Person Centered or Humanistic theory has basic assumptions that people are essentially trustworthy, that they have a vast potential for understanding themselves and resolving their own problems without direct intervention on the therapist part and that they are capable of self directed growth, if they are involved in a therapeutic relationship.
Everyone is free to choose what they become by creating their own values and undertaking actions in accordance with those values.
Emotional distress comes from acting in accordance with other people's values instead of their own.
This type of counselling views most adult emotional distress as the result of inner and unresolved past conflicts.
A psychodynamic counsellor uses several techniques to bring repressed or forgotten experiences to the mind, helping the client to resolve them and to change patterns of behaviour.
In short, by understanding the past, one can walk confidently into the future.
The first is practical application of the relationship so to enable, contain and understand, such as boundaries, free association and free floating attention on the part of client and counsellor alike.
Simply stated, counselling is any relationship in which one person is helping another person to explore and better understand problems.
Friends, relatives, teachers and advisors may provide different types of support whereas a counsellors is completely impartial and is experienced/skilled in developing "helping relationships" and working with many difficult problems people face.
You can expect someone who is interested in listening to your concerns and in helping you develop a better understanding of them so that you may deal with them more easily and effectively.
