Chiswick Counselling
I am a positive, friendly, registered and accredited counsellor for individual adults over the age of 25. I have more than 25 years' experience (well over the 10,000 hours required for expertise in any area) in private practice and in the NHS. At present I work exclusively in private practice.

Due to my many years' experience doing short term work in the NHS, I am always mindful of offering concentrated help in as short a time as possible, so you may find that you do not need a long piece of work with me in order to get a good therapeutic outcome.I never lose sight of the fact that you have come to feel better and then leave as soon as possible, feeling more equipped for life.

You will be in safe hands. Whatever your present situation, I can help you improve your state of mind and deal more effectively with your life challenges. I employ a flexible therapeutic approach depending on my clients' needs. However, my long experience has provided me with evidence that Mindfulness based CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy provide the most successful outcomes.
Services
I started working as a therapist in 1995.
Prior to this I had worked as a teacher for thirteen years following a degree in Philosophy and a post graduate qualification in education.
As a therapist I have worked in the NHS, in private practice, in student counselling, in employee support within organisations and as a counselling trainer and supervisor.
I am very experienced in doing thorough assessments and helping clients into the best therapeutic route available to them.
I have experience in both short term, solution focused counselling, telephone counselling and longer term, open ended counselling or psychotherapy.
I work with individual adults.
I offer short term solution focused counselling, or open ended counselling or psychotherapy, depending on what is required.
I see clients for regular weekly appointments at the same time each week.
I believe that our common human struggles have ageless, existential themes, and I bring a humanistic, holistic and psychodynamic understanding to my work with clients.
I take a positive psychology approach to therapy, promoting wellbeing and helping clients to flourish.
The 94 and 272 buses stop at the end of Abinger Road, the E3 stops close by on The Avenue, and Stamford Brook and Turnham Green tube stations on the district line are a short walking distance away.
I am close to Chiswick Business Park and the 27 bus stop is a short walk from me on Chiswick High Road.
There is paid parking available virtually outside the house as well as space for bicycles.
I am unable to answer the door until five minutes prior to the appointment time once the previous client has left.
My appointment times are from 9.30am until the latest appointment at 6.10pm on weekdays only.
Appointments are weekly at the same time.
I ask people to pay for an assessment session prior to the appointment by internet transfer, or bring cash or a cheque on the day.
For ongoing work I usually invoice at the end of the month, however, some clients prefer to pay weekly as they go.
My consulting room is a short walking distance from both Turnham Green and Stamford Brook Underground stations (district line).
