
I have a degree in English & Politics and a background in teaching. I have an advanced diploma in eating disorders and a certificate in obesity management. I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (2001) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from the University of Birmingham. I have experience in the voluntary sector and in private practice.
I have also worked in a counselling agency overseas. I see clients at my home in Long Crendon offering easy access for Aylesbury and Oxford. I work within the ethical framework of BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists). COUNSELLING is a professional service which respects the differences of belief, background and gender. Sessions are conducted on a confidential basis and usually take place weekly.

By gaining this information on the telephone I am then able to make better use of the time available at our first session.
In couples counselling there is the option to see clients separately before the joint counselling sessions are agreed.
Our first session provides the opportunity to gain a better understanding of your needs and to see if we can work together.
Whilst there is no obligation for further sessions, once we have both agreed that counselling is appropriate I recommend that we schedule future appointments.

It is a non-directive approach which works to develop a client/therapist relationship that is non-judgemental and demonstrates empathy, congruence (genuineness) and unconditional positive regard.
