Childhood Sexual Abuse (and other forms of childhood abuse) and Trauma can have wide-ranging and serious consequences, for survivors these effects last throughout adult life.
Child Abuse can affect psychological and physical well-being, family and intimate relationships, education and career.
One of the most profound effects of childhood sexual abuse is the damaging impact it can have on the individuals ability to form and maintain close, loving relationships (intimate/platonic).
Abuse & Trauma experienced during childhood has a negative impact on your Sense of Self.
Causing you to feel unsafe, unimportant, unloved and confused as to your place or role within the family or life.
This can lead you to adapt to your unsafe environment where you may feel and behave in ways that will enable you to cope.
This can then become your life pattern and behaviour, trapped in a loop of negative feelings and a confused sense of self.
If not changed with corrective experiences i.e.: familial or professional support the memories of the Inner Child can unconsciously work to control the life of the Adult.
