I have trained and worked extensively within the emergency services namely the NHS and Police Service for over 3 decades, becoming a counsellor/psychotherapist and then a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health. When working with individual clients I work in an integrative way, that is I use different models of therapy depending upon individual clients objectives.
I adhere to the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) 'Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy', as well as the ethical standards set down by the EMDR Association and the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC). As part of my ethics and standards and as a professional requirement, I meet regularly with supervisors to discuss aspects of my work.
I also have indemnity insurance cover and, as a professional requirement, have been CRB checked. The Westwood counselling, psychotherapy and occupational health care service is all about people and their communities. As a self employed practitioner with 30 years experience in the NHS and Police Service I am very aware of the impact my work has upon individuals, their families and their wider community and how it can bring about healthier lifestyles, relationships and therefore more harmonious communities.

CBT is a highly efficient and effective psychotherapy.
It's a way for people to learn to manage stress and emotional problems more effectively.
CBT involves looking at the connections between how we think, how we feel and what we do (our behaviour).
CBT particularly concentrates on thoughts that are not useful.
These often undermine our self esteem and can make us feel anxious or depressed.
This model of therapy helps people to learn new methods of managing and problem solving, which can be used for the rest of our life, so in effect becoming our own therapist.

Lesley is an excellent example of a diplomatic, diligent and caring person.
She has a natural optimism which rubs off on others around her. Lesley's role in the caring professions is a model to us all and she can always be relied upon to give of her best.
She is a valued colleague and friend and I thoroughly recommend her.
As lead for the organisation's Occupational Health Unit Lesley was a consummate professional.
She consistently delivered services to a wide range of people in difficult and challenging circumstances, maintaining consistently high standards of professional practice whilst not being afraid to show a very human and caring approach.
