
I am a person of two parts. I have my love of nature and spiritual beliefs which is balanced by my scientific rational side and my passion for learning about neuroscience and traumatology, both of which I bring into my psychotherapy practice. I am especially interested in Peter Levine's work and Stephen Porges Polyvagal theory and apply this into my practice.
My love of animals and nature has led me to explore the ways in which I can include the healing spirit of nature in my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist. For issues which are really difficult to put into words we may work with the creative arts, sand tray, mindfulness and sometimes in the outdoors amongst nature itself.
As a psychotherapist my work may include medium to long term therapy helping those with trauma be it childhood emotional, sexual, physical or verbal abuse, accident, violence, victim of crime, terminal illness and sudden bereavement.Often people suffering from trauma may experience insomnia, anxiety, stress, flashbacks, loss of self esteem and self loathing, feelings of deep sadness, guilt and anger, emotional detachment or self meditating through drugs or alcohol.

Services
Sandtray therapy is a triadic therapeutic relationship consisting of Counsellor, Client and Sandtray, The sand tray itself becomes an integral part of the therapeutic process; it is a particular size in which the client can see the whole tray in one glance.
The tray itself tends to be coloured blue the base represents water, the sides air and the sand within the tray represents the earth.
Clients are encouraged to play with the sand exactly as they wish.
Some dig into its depths.
Others build up to the heights.

I can introduce you to techniques to bring yourself right back into the here and now, by learning to listen to and understand your body, how it is feeling, what it is telling you and by using your five senses.
The practice of mindfulness is extremely helpful in helping deal with stressful and upsetting events.
We may go outside and sit amongst nature, being quiet listening to the sounds around us, smelling the scents in the air, looking at the plants, trees, animals, birds, sky around us, feeling the wind, the cold or the heat upon us, just by doing this we can be wholly in the present the mind can be clear of worries future or past.

By training the mind in this technique we are better able to withstand whatever life throws at us and better able to live a more positive and happy life.
