Services
I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, the BACP.
This is a stringent qualification requiring evidence of extensive training and experience over a number of years supported by written work and references.
My original training was as an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor in 2001 where I gained knowledge and experience in four different theoretical models and approaches.
This enables me to work with your individual needs and issues that are unique to you.

Counselling is where you can talk freely about issues that are troubling you to help you deal with them.
It takes place in a secure environment, on a one-to-one basis, where you are listened to in an unconditional, non-judgemental and positive manner.
There are no pre-conceived ideas or expectations of you as a client and counselling is not about telling you what to do.
Counselling will enable you to explore any issues and problems you feel are getting in the way and preventing you from dealing with your life on a day-to-day basis, or something more longer term that has been avoided.

Ultimately you will work towards becoming more fulfilled and satisfied within.
You will be treated with respect and empathy, aiming for understanding and clarity of your feelings and experiences.

It is a formal arrangement and requirement for therapists to discuss their work regularly with someone who is experienced in both therapy and supervision.
The task is to work together to ensure and develop the efficiency of the therapists' relationship with their client.
The agenda is the therapy and any feelings around that work.
It will include the supervisor's reactions, comments, guidance and challenges.
This will ensure an adequate standard of therapy is maintained.
Supervision takes into account different theoretical models of training, philosophy and methods of both the therapist and the supervisor.

Once you have contacted me, we will arrange an initial meeting which is the assessment session where we both get to meet each other and discuss your needs and expectations of coming to counselling.
Following this we will agree to meet for 50 minute sessions which will take place at the same time and day each week to suit us both.
It is recommended to have weekly sessions to ensure there is some continuity.
