Symmetry
Julie Robson of Symmetry Therapy has worked in Private Practice since 2006. Julie is a trained Accredited BACP Psychotherapist/Counsellor, EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, Senior Clinical Hypnotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I understand that most people are apprehensive about attended a first session or starting a piece of work together. At your consultation session I will collect some personal details, we will start to discuss what brings you to therapy, your therapeutic needs and any goals you may have.

Consultation session(s) offer the opportunity to identify if we are a good fit to work together and also gives you the chance to ask any questions. If we are both comfortable continuing to work together, we can discuss and agree proposed number and frequency of sessions. After a gap in working together, returning client's require a new consultation session(s) to discuss current circumstances, familiarise me with their "story", along with agreeing new therapeutic aims and timescales.
Services
At your first session, before therapy commences, data will be collected and terms and conditions will be discussed.
Your privacy is taken seriously and all data is held securely and confidentially, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Data collected includes: name, address, date of birth, doctor details, contact details, medical details and if you are seeing other professions.
Where personal or doctor details are not provided therapy will be stopped until the information is provided.
I offer one-to-one counselling / psychotherapy for individuals and young people.
Referrals are accepted from Private Clients, Organisations and Employee Assistance Programmes.
Counselling is also beneficial when you are feeling low or anxious and can't explain the reason why.
Whatever your reasons may be for attending counselling you will be listened to, respected and not judged.
I will work at your own pace and offer short and long term work.
As a guide short term work is typically between 6 - 12 sessions.
EMDR is a specialist psychotherapy process which is used to treat disturbing events, trauma and PTSD, amongst other distresses.
My video above is quite in-depth and explains the whole process.
In summary EMDR is a process to activate and access past upsetting experiences, which have not been processed fully.
Once the experience is activated, eye movements are used to process it, thus changing the memory into a healthy form and reducing or eliminating the emotional upset from the experience.
This results in the memory moving from the brains alarm centre (fight, flight or freeze area of the brain - Amagdala) to the front part of the brain (Hippocampus) alongside all the other healthy memories.
I have been a Hypno-Band Licenced Practitioner for many years now.
I have seen both women and men fully committed to the therapy sessions, homework and incorporating new positive behaviours and thoughts, eating and food shopping habits and exercises plans into their lifestyles.
It is fantastic to work alongside you all and watch you grow in confidence, positive attitude and mindset and determination, making realistic and healthy lifelong changes.
The Hypno-Band could change your life forever.
Imagine having the results usually achieved by having a surgical Gastric Band fitted but not having to go through surgery, and spending thousands of pounds!
I have been very interested in the link between physical and psychological health and how these go hand in hand.
When we are suffering from mental health issues, or are in some sort if emotional turmoil or feeling stressed; the body is nearly always effected.
Similarly if the body has been injured or if we do not look after it in a healthy way; the mind or mental health is similarly effected.
There has been lots of research into how past memories, traumas, emotional turmoil can factor into the development of long term physical pains or conditions.
