Advance Counselling Therapy is a private counselling service that was established in 2003 by Jayne F. Bennett. Jayne's mission is to provide a professional short term general counselling and therapy practice in Chester for clients in the area and beyond. I firmly believe that everyone is doing the best they can in their life, everyone is important and worthwhile, and anyone can change.

Whether you feel life could be better or you feel life couldn't be much worse, I will endeavour to help you find a way through. I do not offer magic solutions, counselling can be hard work and progress can be slow or painful. It may not be the right time for you to talk, or talking about things may make you feel worse at first. Many people say that counselling does not make their problems go away, but that they feel better able to cope with them.

I practice from a person centred perspective and use a combination of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), in order to help individuals and couples with a broad range of therapeutic needs.
Services
Counselling is appropriate for all sorts of people.
It can help if you are working class or middle class, old or young, heterosexual, gay or lesbian, black or white or from an ethnic minority community.
People who have been sexually abused can find talking therapy particularly helpful if it is offered at a time when they are ready for it.
It may also help if you are on medication, or you have had a diagnosis such as depression or obsessive compulsive disorder.
Some people prefer counselling instead of prescribed drugs, or a combination of both.
In couples/relationship counselling I work with both partners, over the age of eighteen, to deal with problems that are affecting the relationship.
Any type of relationship can benefit from relationship counselling, irrespective of marital status, age, sexual orientation or race.
The way I work with couples depends upon the needs of the individual couple concerned.
I am flexible regarding how we will work together and we will discuss this between us in our initial assessment session.
During the first session we will talk over what's bringing you to counselling/therapy and how best to proceed.
Enable us to determine whether we believe I can help you achieve your aims and objectives.
Provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have before we commit to working together.
Give us time needed to go through the business contract that I use and confirm that you are happy agreeing to it.
If we decide to commit to working together, we will then arrange the next session.
My fee for individual clients is 60 per 50 minute session and 80 for couples and families per 50 minute session.
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancelled appointments, otherwise the full fee is payable.
Payment is made (cash or cheque) at the end of each session.
Alternatively payment can be made by credit, debit or switch card online at least 48 hours prior to the session.
