As a BACP accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, and a Counselling Supervisor, I am available for individual, couple or small group work from my peaceful, secluded practice in Pentewan near St Austell. In our work together, I hope that you will feel respected and fully accepted, and that you benefit from my commitment towards a deep understanding of how your experience impacts upon you as a unique individual.
I was born and brought up near Mevagissey and have a deep love and understanding of the heritage complexities of our county. Following College, I moved out of county to train and work as a teacher in Southampton. There, I experienced multicultural living and the wealth of difference that a sea-port town has to offer. I returned to Cornwall to bring up my four sons and to be at hand for my aging parents.
During this time I have retrained in Counselling/Psychotherapy and have worked for local charities, in private practice with self-referring clients, the NHS, Student Services on the University Campus and for National Employee Assistance Programmes delivering counselling to some of our major organisations and businesses.

Within the context of the over-arching Person-Centred ethos, I work to this comprehensive, supervisory model for reflexive practice in supporting counsellor/psychotherapists with their clinical expertise and within organisations towards managing the tension between the individual practitioner, the client's wellbeing and the organisational boundaries.
Student Supervision: this contract typically requires a bias towards ongoing training requirements and support in applying theory to practice as well as integrating the BACP Ethical Framwork.

Learning about and working with trauma has been an ongoing area of my professional growth.
In addition to the typical counselling sessions, which will include trauma processing, I am offering the following forms of support.
Within the first week of the aftermath of a Critical event it is believed to be beneficial for those significantly impacted, to be offered this opportunity to collectively establish the facts and make best sense of what has happened.
To then be able to normalise the range of initial reactions to the event and identify their own traumatic symptoms, creates an opportunity to introduce psycho-educative and practical input and also to signpost to follow-on support options.
