PCT is a type of talk-psychotherapy developed in 1940 - 1950 by the psychologist Carl Rogers.
PCT aims to provide individuals with the ability to develop a sense of 'self' to see how their feelings, attitudes, and behaviour are being affected negatively.
While behaviourists criticised this technique for lack of structure and psychoanalysts for creating a conditional relationship, it has proven to be a popular and effective treatment.
