I provide secular and Christian counselling for a range of mental health issues, and am based in Wath upon Dearne, Rotherham. Counselling sessions are either in person at the private rooms I use nearby or online, by video. It may not have been easy for you to get to this point, but well done for getting this far and trying something different! If you've never seen a counsellor before, you might have a few questions you'd like answering before you go any further.
If that is the case, then here is more information. I would add extra detail to that. I would define it as a professional relationship where you meet for an hour on a regular basis and tell a trusted person what is bothering you in confidentiality. They help you explore your thoughts and feelings in an atmosphere of warmth and empathy with the aim of you having better self-understanding, self-compassion, relationships and life.
My years in the NHS and a local charity give me a sound working knowledge of several issues, but mainly anxiety and relationship problems.

Services
Since I have experienced some of life's challenges myself, I know the benefits of acceptance and so I don't judge you.
Working as a therapist is central to my life as I embody the values that allow me to be genuinely present as a sensitive human person in the room with you.
Family and friends - the pandemic has taught me the value of spending time with other people.
I began helping people many years ago, realising that others seemed to identify me as someone easy to talk to.
It was as if random people I had never met before couldn't help but tell me their troubles.

If your question is not answered here, then why not contact me and I will answer you directly?
The counselling relationship is unusual in that you get to talk about whatever you like, and my main role is to listen.
I will listen to you without being judgemental or offering advice.
I will encourage you to talk openly to explore those things you find difficult to talk about with others by offering a non-threatening environment where you feel free to explore difficult situations you encounter in your daily life.

Do you struggle trying to balance home, work, the school run, shopping etc. whilst feeling that you need some time out to talk to a therapist?
Would you find it difficult or even impossible to travel to a counselling session?
The digital world offers several ways of communicating with a counsellor, thus providing a workaround.
Although there are other platforms that are more secure, 'Skype counselling' is what this is often called.
The obvious advantages are that you can see and hear the therapist in 'real-time' which is as near as possible to being in the same room, but without having to travel and interrupt your busy day.

There is a short process to entering counselling, as there is a little paperwork and you may find it helpful to know what to expect.
It is difficult to say how long your counselling will take and so the total cost is impossible to calculate, but if you don't wish to continue suffering with no hope of recovery whilst you are on a long waiting list, then doesn't it seem like a good option to see someone like myself, in private practice?
If, like many others, you have been suffering a long time, hoping something will change, here is the opportunity to take control back.

It can seem quite a challenging step to seek counselling help, but do not be afraid if that is the case.
