No 5 is a community- based organisation offering counselling and support to children, young people and those around them. Our counselling sessions are provided by fully trained volunteer counsellors. We have 30 counsellors offering sessions five days a week. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and backgrounds but all share a commitment to supporting young people.

Our vision is for a world that does not stigmatise children and young people's mental health and accepts it as a normal part of human development.
No5 has been supporting children and young people in Reading and the surrounding area since 1971.
We are a community- based organisation with all counselling sessions provided by fully trained volunteer counsellors.
There are currently 28 counsellors offering over 80 sessions, five days a week.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and backgrounds but all share a commitment to supporting children and young people.
No5 offers confidential listening to support children and young people and those around them, through our free counselling service for those aged 11-25 living, working or studying in Reading and the RG postcode area.
Free counselling for 11-25 year olds, offering tailored sessions with one of our counsellors.
These usually take place on a weekly basis and last up to 50 minutes, and you will see the same counsellor each week.
To offer flexibility to young people we run sessions from 4-9pm Monday-Friday to avoid clashes with study or work during daytime hours.
If you are in training to become a counsellor but not yet ready for a placement it can be very beneficial to volunteer within an agency setting before starting a placement.
We sometimes have vacancies on our reception area, in admin and data entry and analysis in our service so you can get a feel for how a counselling agency works before you start a counselling placement.
We have two main intake dates each year in October/November and January/February.
You will need to be training or qualified as a minimum, at level 4/Diploma in counselling.
The team at No5 have collated useful resources with young people in mind but helpful to anyone to keep mentally fit.
You will find No5 factsheets covering key topics often raised by young people and which we cover in our workshops in schools.
Our Young Ambassadors have received counselling and support from No5 and in they want to help other young people so they have offered to share their experiences via video.
These currently cover anxiety, self-harm and loneliness, which is a group video.

No5 opened its doors in 1971 to support young people's mental health in Reading.
In 2021 we'd like you to join us in celebrating our 50th and reflect on half a century of No5! Take time to look back on your memories as we also look to the future.
We're seeking anyone who has had a connection with No5 and a story they would like to share.
