During the pandemic, we are operating under Government guidelines and will have appropriate policies and procedures in place to ensure safety. Connect is a counselling service offering help and support to individuals, couples and families experiencing a range of problems, such as anxiety, depression, inability to cope, relationship issues, bereavement and more.

We abide by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and the Association of Christian Counsellors code of Ethics and Practice. Connect offers counselling to adults and families, irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, religion or ethnic origin. Our Counsellors have undertaken professional training, with further training for Couples and Family Therapy work.

Counselling is based on listening, not giving advice and does not offer quick and easy answers. The process helps people to see their situation more clearly, enabling them to take responsibility for their own life and to make their own decisions.

Connect is participating in a recycling initiative, in association with ARB Recycling, to raise funds for Connect AND support people in the developing world.
Developing World: Bras are expensive and in short supply across the developing world.
This scheme provides local job opportunities and offers affordable clothing to the third world.
Environmentally Friendly: Fabrics tend to take a long while to biodegrade, which is a process that releases harmful gases.
Recycling bras will help to reduce these harmful effects.

With the milestone of 25 years of counselling service at Connect, in this blog article, we look back over that time and also consider where we are now, with providing a counselling service to the community.
We prepared the foundations including setting up management structures and recruiting staff.
Once up and running, in 1994, we spent time evaluating the service we then provided and improving that service where we could in those early days.
This would be an ongoing process, but we made improvements to the service as will be noted further down.
We rely on the generosity of donors to help sustain the work of Connect and enable us to continue to offer support and professional help to the community addressing issues that affect mental health, impacting families, relationships, jobs and coping with everyday life.
No one is refused counselling through lack of funds and so all your donations are received with grateful thanks.
