Traumatic occurrences like loss, bereavement, relationship problems, divorce, low self esteem and stress can all begin to take away the joy from life. All too easily it can become difficult to remember who we really are, how we like to live our lives and also how we like to spend our time. Such negative emotions can also contribute to a general feeling of anxiety, depression or both.

If you find yourself in such a situation then I am here to help. I specialise in treating you as an individual allowing all therapy to be uniquely tailored for your personal needs. An integrative therapist uses a wide variety of skills from different therapeutic models.

I have worked with mental health issues within the public sector of Social Services and the National Health service since 1988.
From then on I developed a keen interest in how people overcame the difficulties they had and how psychotherapy, in particular, helped them to get better.
I then undertook my core training in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regents College.
I continued my training as a psychodynamic counsellor with Kings College working at Guys Hospital providing psychotherapy to people with a life changing health issue.
The terms Counselling and Psychotherapy tend to be interchangeable these days and can be confused.
Simply put, counselling is for brief work and psychotherapy is seen as longer term or more in depth therapy.
As an integrative therapist; I use a wide variety of skills from different therapeutic models.
By using these skills and my experience; the therapeutic treatment is then tailored to your indvidual needs.

CBT has been adapted to be effective with depression anxiety, phobias and many other common conditions.
This therapy is derived from psychoanaylisis and the work of Freud, Jung, Adler and there followers.
All hypnosis is self hypnosis, in other words a therapist will give you instructions to imagine things in a certain way and it is up to you to follow those instructions.
It is an altered state of consciousness into which you allow yourself to enter, with the guidance of a therapist.
You are in control all the time, you always know what is happening, and you can come out of the altered state at any time in the same way one can snap out of a vivid daydream.
The hypnotic state can feel as if you are dreaming or daydreaming and is a natural form of consciousness which many people experience on a daily basis.
Modern technology has become a common way for us to connect with others and to conveniently see and speak to people online from wherever we are.
With this in mind, I offer online counselling through either Skype, Zoom or other apps to help you without the need for you to travel to see me.
Video calls can be such high quality these days and are very easy to use.
