The Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling delivered by HCC is rigorously reviewed and re-accredited every five years by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). The assessor would like to commend Highgate Counselling Centre for a very well organised and professionally presented application. The supporting statements were clear, and the supporting evidence was strong.

Services
Highgate Counselling Centre was founded in 1960 by William Kyle, a Methodist Minister, then based at Jackson's Lane.
He trained in pastoral counselling and later psychotherapy.
During his time at Jackson's Lane, he set up Highgate Counselling Centre.
A network of analysts and therapists was created who were prepared to donate their time to those in need and those who could not pay the full amount for counselling or psychotherapy.
This work continued at Highgate Counselling Centre when William and his wife Benita moved to Westminster Central Hall.

HCC is very pleased to be able to offer the Tony Gahan counselling fund which provides counselling for those affected by a loved one suffering from dementia.
Dementia can occur in all different ways, not just memory loss, and sadly for some it can mean the loss of the person that they used to be.
This can be distressing for all concerned and this short term counselling is designed to be a space to explore and think about what this means for the people concerned and their relationships.
The counselling is provided weekly for a period of 10 weeks.

HCC offers a counselling service to those individuals, couples, families, etc. who have lost a loved pet.
The loss may be through bereavement, theft or missing.
Sometimes extended family members or friends do not realise the impact that the loss of a pet can have on the individual, couple, family or household.
Our specialist team of counsellors are all pet owners themselves and know what it is like to lose a beloved pet.
Like all significant losses it is important to have space to be able to express the feelings and begin a grieving process.
