I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working with individual adults, couples and groups. I work with people psychodynamically which means that together we explore the meanings behind your feelings, thoughts and behaviour. This is what is known as the "talking cure". For many years I have worked in private practice, the NHS, where I am a senior psychotherapist and in the voluntary sector.
I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and I am a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. I have trained extensively, at the Tavistock Clinic and with the Institute of Group Analysis as well as other institutes and universities.

Services
Psychotherapy can help us to make connections between the painful thoughts, feelings and experiences we might be currently undergoing, and events from our past lives.
Whether we are meeting individually, in couples or in groups, my aim is to give you a chance to gain self-understanding by offering you a regular, safe and confidential space to help you start to see these connections and make positive and lasting changes to your life.
This kind of therapy is not a quick fix.
Working towards a greater understanding of your personality can be painful as well as enriching, but my way of working allows all my patients to talk freely about anything that is troubling them, safe in the knowledge that they will not be criticised, dismissed or judged in any way.

Exploring the possibility of therapy can in itself cause anxiety and confusion - thinking about what you are looking for and considering what kind of therapy would be most helpful.
I therefore offer an initial consultation where we can discuss what is concerning you and what kind of therapy might be most appropriate and helpful: in some cases this may involve me recommending other therapists who offer different styles of therapy.
This initial consultation would last between 50 and 90 minutes.
