Everyone has mental health & just like physical health it changes from day to day & many things can affect our mental/emotional health. It is estimated that 3/4 of medically diagnosable mental health conditions emerge by the age of 24. Emotional difficulties such as anxiety & depression have become the most prevalent type of mental health condition experienced by 5-19 year olds.

Services
Our aim as a charity is to promote the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people aged 11-25 in West Berkshire.
We do this primarily through our free, at the point of delivery, counselling services at Broadway House and in local schools and GP surgeries.
Last but not least, we work very closely with relevant local organisations and signpost people to other services, information and support where appropriate.
We currently have around 30 voluntary / part-paid trained counsellors and we support over 500 young people each year with more than 5,000 sessions.

What is counselling?
Counselling is a helpful private conversation with a trained listener.
Together you will talk through your issues and come up with new options, find new ways of looking at things or get new skills to help you move forward in your life.
At Time to Talk West Berkshire we offer up to 12 weekly 50 minute sessions with the same counsellor at the same time and in the same place each week.
Once you start counselling it's important that you attend each week and make the most of this important time.

We are being encouraged to look after our physical health and take precautions to keep ourselves well and in the same way we can also look after our mental health and take precautions to keep ourselves healthy.
We may need to adapt our usual methods of self-care but in the same way that we will continue to clean our teeth and brush our hair, we can continue to follow the ABC of mental health.
We may have to stay indoors more but this doesn't mean we cannot be active.
We could have a kick about in the garden, do an online exercise routine or just dance around our bedroom to our favourite tune.
