Wellspring provides affordable, professional counselling for adults in North Somerset, as well as donation-based counselling and low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for young people age 11-18. The charity was established in 1994 by local church leaders and GPs to provide confidential help and support to people in the local community.
We offer our services to all who seek help regardless of gender, ethnic origin or religious beliefs. Many of the CBT sessions for young people take place in local secondary schools thanks to a grant from The National Lottery. Wellspring currently has no statutory funding but receives grants and donations from many local town and parish councils in North Somerset as well as local churches, other groups, trusts, individuals and through fundraising events.
All our Counsellors and Wellbeing Practitioners are professionally trained, have regular clinical supervision and engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) as recommended by BACP. Wellspring Counselling is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abides by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Wellspring has a wonderful team of volunteer receptionists who volunteer approximately one evening every 4 -6 weeks to help with meeting and greeting clients among other duties at Tower House Medical Centre in Nailsea.
We are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and our team of volunteers are a vital part of enabling Wellspring to offer evening sessions for clients.
We hold regular meetings every 3-4 months for all Volunteer Receptionists to get together for light refreshments and to catch up on Wellspring's latest news.

Counselling is talking to someone independent who is professionally trained and who can help you become clearer about your thoughts and feelings and help you find your own solutions.
You might want to make changes in your life or you may be facing bereavement, redundancy, the breakdown of a close relationship or the onset of serious illness.
You may need to talk through a stressful or traumatic experience - a serious accident, a miscarriage, an unexpected pregnancy, or an early retirement, amongst many others.
