The best way to start, is to explain what I do so you can work out if it's what you're looking for. It might feel as if you have lost your way and are struggling to deal with the ups and downs of life. Therapy can help you to reorient yourself again and to discover new ways of dealing with familiar difficulties. In my practice I offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults who want to change their life in some way and are willing to make the commitment to themselves to do so.
I offer a safe confidential space for you to be open and honest about your struggles without judgement so that we can work together to create lasting change.

Services
Our first session will give us the chance to meet and to discuss your reasons for wanting to start therapy.
This time will help us to decide if we will be able to work together.
If mutually agreed we will arrange a set time and day to meet each week that is convenient for both of us.
In terms of how therapy works; I have training and experience in a range of therapeutic approaches and I will choose those which I believe are most appropriate for you.
We will regularly review your progress against the goals you have set for your counselling and address any blocks to this.

Therapy takes place on a weekly basis so it is worth considering the time and financial commitments when you make the decision to start therapy whilst also valuing the investment you are making to yourself and the immense benefits to be gained.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and the length of time you are in therapy will depend upon you and the issues that you are bringing, we can discuss this further in your first session.
I offer both long and short term contracts depending on your needs.

There are many things to celebrate about being a woman so I encourage you to think about what positive aspects you feel about yourself in relation to your femininity.
There are also aspects of being female however which may bring a woman into therapy at certain times of her life such as fertility issues, being a mother and starting or navigating the menopause.
All of which can affect confidence or can highlight something which is difficult such as mood swings, anger management, sadness or depression.

In our society it is often thought of as being 'strong' when we don't show our emotions and are able to 'forge ahead' and 'get on with it' when being faced with grief or loss.
Normally employers and friends are accepting that within the first few weeks you may not be your usual self and employers may cut you some slack but soon you will be expected to return to normal and life goes on.
Often we do this to ourselves too, dismissing painful feelings by saying things to ourselves like 'I should be over this by now' or 'what's wrong with me?

There are many reasons why someone suffers from low self confidence; things such as unresolved childhood issues, physical or mental ill health, loss of a job or break down of a relationship can all impact on how we feel about ourselves.
Or you may have grown up with a negative view of yourself because of the early messages given to you by adults around you.
It may be that your lack of self confidence is holding you back and stopping you from being able to live the life that you want to lead.
If this is the case try my tips on how to start building your confidence.
