I am based at London Bridge - just across the river from the City of London, on Tooley Street. People usually come to see me because they are looking for help from someone who is not involved in their problems. You may have come to this site because you are worried about something, or something has gone wrong in your life, or you are upset or distressed.
It could be that you feel stuck, in some way, and want a fresh viewpoint on your life to help things change. Or you may feel that all the meaning has gone from your life, and you don't know what you want any more. Some people might be looking for help in desperation or despair. It can be very helpful to talk to a therapist - someone who is skilled in listening and in helping people find new ways to deal with their problems.
To begin with, seeing a counsellor or psychotherapist offers a place to talk about your troubles - it's a way to share the burden. In the safe environment of the therapy room, trust can be built up so that together we can begin to explore the roots of the problem, and gain a new perspective on its place in your life.

Services
I have 18 years experience of working in the field of counselling and therapy.
I already had experience of working on a voluntary helpline, when I began working as a telephone counsellor, in 1987.
This motivated me to train in more depth, and in 1989 I entered upon a four-year psychotherapy course at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London.
I began working with psychotherapy clients in autumn 1990, and have continued in this field ever since.
A Diploma in Counselling was my first qualification at the Institute, which I gained in 1992.

In addition to working as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I also have much experience in the following areas of work.
Please contact me if you are looking for a Supervisor, Training Therapist, Trainer or Group Worker.
All counsellors and psychotherapists need to be in regular supervision of their work.
This is an ethical requirement of reputable therapy organisations, such as UKCP and the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I subsequently gained a Certificate in Integrative and Transpersonal Supervision after a further year of training at the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust in 2003-4.

If you aren't sure whether counselling or psychotherapy can help you with your problems, give me a call and we can fix up a meeting to discuss it.
If there are relationship problems, it often makes sense to work with them in couples therapy.
Here both partners can get the chance to talk about their difficulties, and learn to hear each other as well as be heard by the other.
I am an experienced couples therapist with seven years background in this field of work.

When you first make contact, we will have a short conversation by phone or email.
If you then decide you would like to meet me for an initial session, we will fix up an appointment as soon as we can.
The first meeting might be termed an assessment session.
It is an opportunity for us to meet face-to-face, and for us to decide whether we want to work together.
For this to happen, you will need to voice your concerns and difficulties, and also give a brief history of yourself, including your background.

Q: Will I be able to get advice about my problems if I come for counselling?
A: The therapist will work with you and help you reach your own conclusions about how to deal with your problems.
It's not the therapist's place to give advice, but to give you the space to work things through for yourself in a way that you couldn't manage on your own or by discussing it with a friend.
A: Coming for therapy is a sensible solution if you are struggling with problems and you can't solve them on your own.
